HDOA staff on Hawaii Island confirmed the presence of American Foulbrood disease (AFB) in a bee colony in Hamakua. The disease is not new to Hawaii, but it is a recent detection on Hawaii Island. Beekeepers are encouraged to inspect their colonies and be on the lookout for AFB and other diseases and pests of honeybees. For more information click here.
