Hawaii has lost a long-time nurseryman and respected leader in the agricultural industry this morning with the passing of Harold Tanouye, president of Green Point Nursery, Inc.   Harold, a third-generation farmer, returned from college and established Green Point Nursery in 1957 and grew mostly anthuriums.  Son, Eric, joined the business in 1977 and the Tanouye family expanded their nursery business and raised the bar on the quality of Hawaii-grown flowers and foliage.

They also worked tirelessly with the nursery associations, promoting innovative trade and export initiatives, not only for their company, but for all of the growers in Hawaii. Their collaboration and support of research at the University of Hawaii’s College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources has strengthened the Hawaii nursery industry in immeasurable ways.

Our sincere condolences to the Tanouye family.
