PEST-Kunia Farmer Resource1
The Farmers Resource Workshop in Kunia was well attended and provided information that was useful to farmers. The Kunia and Kahuku workshops attracted more than 100 farmers. Maui’s workshop had 25 farmers and Kauai’s session had 40 farmers.

The Education Unit of the Pesticides Branch of HDOA has been working in collaboration with U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the University of Hawaii College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (CTAHR), Hawaii Department of Health (DOH), U,S, Department of Labor (USDOL) and other agencies to present a series of workshops to help farmers.

The Farmer Resource Workshop program has held events on Oahu (Kahuku, Kunia), Maui and Kauai.  More sessions are being planned on other islands in the future.  The workshops cover a wide range of subjects from proper pesticides use, agricultural loans and insurance programs, soil conservation, wage and hour regulations, clean air and water regulations and much more.

The purpose of these workshops is  to connect farm owners with agencies that could provide assistance programs, money or other resources.  These workshops have typically lasted 2-4 hours.
