The 2013 Produce Marketing Association (PMA) Fresh Summit Convention and Expo was held October 18-20, 2013 at New Orleans Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. 

This year, the PMA Fresh Summit attracted more than 18,000 members of the global fresh produce and floral industry’s supply chain for innovation-focused general sessions, 14 educational workshops and two days of expo. Attendees hailed from more than 60 countries and included more than 3,000 buyers. 

Hawaii Department of Agriculture (HDOA) has been exhibiting at the PMA Fresh Summit for 27 consecutive years to help Hawaii agriculture companies to expand their sales in the national market.  HDOA hosted the two Hawaii booths that featured Fat Law’s Farms, Sunshine Farming, and Able Freight.  Projected sales reported by the above Hawaii companies within the next 12 months attributed to the event are $350,000.

Fat Law’s Farm showcased a wide selection of herbs, Italian Sweet Basils, Thai Basils, Taro Leaf, Betal Leaf, Thai Ginger, and Chocolate Mint, that attracted the booth visitors by their fresh and crisp scents.

Above:  Sunshine Farming, located in Hilo, Big Island, specializes in sweet purple potatoes and ginger, and ships over 3 million pounds of sweet purple potatoes and 600,000 pounds of ginger each year to California.  The purpose of their participation in the PMA was to expand their market beyond California.

Above: Able Freight Services shared one booth space with Sunshine Farming. Able Freight was also new to the PMA show, but they prepared well with a pull-up banner, table cloth, video monitor, brochures and give-away goods.
