Paradise Meadows, known for its award-winning “The Local Buzz” brand 100% Kau Coffee, is located in the South Point area of the Big Island of Hawaii. Since 2004, Scott Buske and Megan Collins, owners of Paradise Meadows, have been farming various vegetables and fruits, keeping bees in their 91 acres of the land, and established a truly diversified agricultural environment that provides opportunities for people who want to learn about natural farming in Kau.
Among all the products they produce, especially their “The Local Buzz” coffee became well-recognized by its smooth and rich taste. Their coffee is grown at higher altitudes in the Kau district, where the volcanic soil is deep and rich. They adhere to rigorous processing standards to ensure the best quality they can produce. They hand-pick, hand-process, and carefully blend 3 types of 100% Hawaiian Kau beans (Arabica Typica, Red Caturra and Yellow Caturra) to produce an extraordinarily smooth yet complex coffee.
Megan Collins says, “Our coffee is grown using organic fertilizers and LIMO™(Local Indigenous Micro-Organisms) for nourishment. Our focus is on meshing quality with sustainability to continually improve both the coffee and the land“. She also says, “At Paradise Meadows, our goal is to offer naturally grown products that taste so good you regret finishing them. Holding our products to that standard is what quality means to us”.
“The Local Buzz” coffee can be purchased at R. Field Fine Foods, Hilo Hattie’s, Island Naturals on the Big Island, Island Market and www.localbuzzhawaii.com.
