REVISED EPA MANUAL AVAILABLE ON USE OF
AGRICULTURAL PESTICIDES
HONOLULU – A revised manual on worker protection standards for agricultural pesticide use is being made available by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) through the Hawaii Department of Agriculture (HDOA). The EPA yesterday released the manual, entitled “2005 Worker Protection Standards for Agricultural Pesticides How-to-Comply Manual,” which facilitates better protection of pesticide workers and handlers in agriculture from potential risks of pesticides.
The new revised manual reflects more recent amendments to the Worker Protection Standards (WPS) and provides detailed information on who is covered by the WPS and how to meet the regulatory requirements of the law. Changes to the WPS since 1993 have made the earlier version obsolete, and its continued use may lead to an employer to be out of compliance.
The manual is available on the EPA website at: https://www.epa.gov/agriculture/htc.html
For further information about the revised manual and how to obtain print and/or CD-ROM versions of the manual, or for additional information about the WPS, please visit: https://www.epa.gov/agriculture/htc.html or call the HDOA’s Pesticides Branch at:
