U.S. EPA Pulls Agricultural Pesticide Products

HONOLULU – U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has ordered all pesticide products containing the active ingredient sulfoxaflor to be prohibited from sale as of Nov. 12, 2015. Some of these pesticides are sold and used in Hawaii.
Hawaii products
Effective immediately, all pesticides licenses for sulfoxaflor-containing products have been cancelled in the state of Hawaii. These include:
- Closer SC (EPA Reg. No. 62719-623)
- Sequoia (EPA Reg. No. 62719-623)
- Transform WG (EPA Reg. No. 62719-625)
- Xxpire WG (EPA Reg. No. 62719-676)
- Seeker (EPA Reg. No. 62719-677)
No sale or distribution
The order prohibits the sale of sulfoxaflor-containing products beginning November 12, 2015. Dealers, distributors, and retailers with existing stocks of these products may not legally sell or give away product. Sulfoxaflor products may only be distributed to facilitate return to the manufacturer or for proper disposal or lawful export.
Use of sulfoxaflor products after cancellation date of November 12, 2015
Growers with sulfoxaflor-containing product may continue to use products according the directions on the container labels until stocks are exhausted.
