HDOA Highlights Local Flowers to Honor Veterans

The public is ivited to help sew lei to honor our veterans for the upcoming Memorial Day.

HDOA’s Plant Quarantine Branch will open its facility for a huge lei-making event:

Saturday, May 25th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Free parking!

 

HDOA will provide locally grown flowers and lei-making supplies!  We just need people who can sew or who would like to learn how to sew lei.  Keiki to kupuna are welcome, as well as student and community organizations.

Donations of backyard flowers are also welcomed and may be dropped off at the Plant Quarantine Branch during the week at 1849 Auiki Street (Click here for map).  

All lei will be taken to the National Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl and to the State Veteran’s Cemetery in Kaneohe.
