HDOA Plant Quarantine Branch and Quality Assurance Division Moving to New Facilities

Honolulu – The Hawaii Department of Agriculture will be moving its Plant Quarantine Branch from it’s Kakaako location (701 Ilalo Street) to new facilities at 1849 Auiki Street this month. The public is advised that plant inspections at the Kakaako facility will cease on Monday, August 12 and will resume at the new Auiki Street facility on Thursday, August 15. In the interim (August 12, 13 & 14), all inspections of plant material for export and for interisland shipping will be conducted at the Plant Quarantine Office at Honolulu International Airport, which is located on the Ewa Service Road that runs between the interisland terminal and the main terminal.

The Quality Assurance Division will also be moving to new facilities at 1851 Auiki Street, adjacent to the Plant Quarantine Branch. The division’s Commodities Branch and Milk Control Section will be moving from its offices on King Street and the Measurement’s Standards Branch will be moving from its Kakaako location on August 9. Taxi licensing operations have been suspended until September 30 while the branch installs a new computer program. Taxis that require new licenses during that period will be issued temporary inspection stickers with the expiration date of September 30, 2002 (documentation such as the Placed-in-Service Report or Application For Taximeter License/Inspection Report will be required.)

Routine Device and Package & Labeling inspections will be suspended as of August 9 at the Kakaako office and will resume on August 19 at the Auiki Street facility.

The department asks for the public’s patience and cooperation during the period of transition.
