RESTRICTED USE PESTICIDES SALES FOR 2014 POSTED
HONOLULU — The Hawaii Department of Agriculture (HDOA) has posted on its website data on the sales of restricted-use pesticides (RUP) sold in the State of Hawaii for the year 2014. The “Restricted Use” classification restricts a product, or its uses, to use by a certified pesticide applicator or under the direct supervision of a certified applicator. The data reports by County, the total quantity of RUPs sold monthly in pounds of active ingredient and may be found at: https://hdoa.hawaii.gov/pi/ruplist/
Dealers who sell RUP are required to be licensed annually and keep records of sales, distribution, delivery, theft, spill or any other activity affecting the amount of RUPs on their inventory. All RUP sales outlets must also be licensed with a licensed dealer representative listed. Licensed dealer representatives must pass a written test every five years. In addition, RUPs may only be purchased by a certified pesticide applicator, which requires passing a written test.
Act 105, passed during the 2013 legislative session, required HDOA to post public information in RUP records that include RUP sales. There has been a delay in the posting as legal issues are still being resolved regarding the release of confidential business information and personal information. HDOA will continue to post additional RUP sales information as these legal issues are resolved.
This RUP report excludes RUP sales for Structural Pest Control (pest fumigation) pursuant to the exception under Section 149A-31.2(a) of the Hawaii Revised Statutes.
